The Louisiana State Board of Social Work
Examiners may grant endorsement to MSWs who hold a current social work
license in another state with qualifications equivalent to those required
for the Louisiana license.
The current requirements for the LCSW
license are as follows: Candidate must be of good moral character, hold a
master’s degree of social work from a graduate social work program,
accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, completed at least
5,760 hours of postgraduate social work experience, 3,840 hours of the
accumulated postgraduate social work experience shall be in a setting
practicing social work under the supervision of a board-approved clinical
supervisor, and passed a satisfactory examination approved by the board.
The board will accept a passing score on
either the Advanced Generalist or Clinical Examination administered by the
Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB). The Louisiana Social Work
Practice Act does not allow for waiver of any of the licensure
requirements.
